On-Screen Calculator Introduction
For the first time in JEE Main history, NTA will provide a basic on-screen calculator during the computer-based test. This calculator supports simple calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and square roots. The calculator will remain accessible on the screen throughout the entire exam duration. However, JEE Advanced 2026 will provide a more advanced virtual scientific calculator with trigonometric, logarithmic, and exponential functions.
Registration Process Changes
The JEE Main 2026 registration process has been completely revised with three distinct steps: Registration, Application Form, and Fee Payment. The most significant change is the mandatory live photo upload requirement, where candidates must capture their photograph directly using a webcam or mobile camera by scanning a QR code. Additionally, students must now enter their Class 11 Registration Number during the application process for data validation.
Document Upload Requirements
NTA has introduced strict specifications for document uploads. Recent passport-size photographs must show 80% face visibility with no mask on a white background (JPG/JPEG format, 10-200 KB). Importantly, no correction facility will be provided later for uploaded documents, and any tampering will be treated as Unfair Means.
Exam Centers Update
NTA has added 33 new exam centers for JEE Main 2026 while removing or merging 7 exam cities. There are no changes to foreign exam centers.
Accessibility Features
New accessibility settings have been introduced including screen magnifier, text size adjustment, cursor trail, and light/dark mode options for improved usability.
Eligibility Changes
NTA has removed the 75% criteria requirement for Class 12 marks in JEE Main 2026. This change benefits all candidates, including droppers, as the focus shifts away from board exam percentage requirements.
